Vote Rides 2024 is on - will you join us?

I’ll keep it quick: We’re providing free rides to the polls on Election Day in Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck.

Why? Transportation is our superpower and everyone needs clear access to make their voice heard. It’s true that early voting and mail-in ballots are the best way to reach everyone, but come election day lots of people haven’t cast their ballot for various reasons and we want to help.

This will be our 3rd time doing a massive Vote Rides campaign. We did it first in 2016, then again in 2020, and now 2024 will be our biggest push ever. In 2020 we had dozens of cars and half of our bus fleet rolling to deliver rides. This year, we hope to have 100+ cars and our entire fleet rolling to make democracy happen.

Here’s how you can help:

1. Sign up to volunteer: https://detroitbus.typeform.com/to/CdxI26Oh — We need volunteers to help with outreach, getting posters up, scheduling rides, answering the phones, and providing actual rides. This is the most direct way to help.

2. Donate to Vote Rides: https://donorbox.org/vote-rides-2020-free-rides-to-the-polls — This is critical because our outreach depends on funds. Posters, signs, ads, and more. Every dollar donated fuels our team to reach and transport more voters to the polls. We’ve had hundreds of donors so far but we’re always in need of more. (Don’t give more than you can afford, please.)

3. Share the word: https://thedetroitbus.com/dbc-vote-rides/ — Share this link on your social media, send it to organizations you know that can get the word out, and forward this to email lists you know serving Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck.

We’ve even been referred by the Michigan Department of State, which is pretty cool. Right here.

Together we can make this thing happen which I believe is kinda the whole point of America.
