Graffiti HandsEvery time I come back from a tour, I look like some strange hieroglyphed-out tattooed person because my hand and arm are covered in chicken scratches. This is my version of research these days: I'm always finding out amazing bits of information from people who know someone who knows someone who knows a lot about something. So I write it down on my hands, and it looks something like: "TOMMY'S Healey's bar once/meath00k/Cliff Bells dishwAsher/cheCK".* Then I scurry back to the books and dig my nose into 1837 census reports or whatnot. Eventually, this information gets processed into some of the details that we share on the tours. I hope. If nothing else, it leads to some fantastic rabbit holes, like the time I spent 3 hours googling Civil War tokens from Detroit merchants (see, we had alternative currency way before the whole Bitcoin thing). I swear, this is a valid research method. The hive mind of Detroiters is an amazing thing, and so when you see me scribbling on my hand you know I've just encountered another magical bit of information that I'm squirreling away. So if you have any random tidbits, please send them my way and I'll grab the pen.See you around town!Mickey*Translation of my hand from Friday night: "Tommy's Bar was once called Healey's saloon/ There's a grisly murder legend from Cliff Bells back in the 60s involving a waitress, a scorned dishwasher, and a meathook. Look into this."

Eastern Market TrailerStop in and say hi to Kim on our last weekend at Eastern Market this Saturday from 9AM-4PM. Get info on tours and see our mobile mini museum.

Marche de Nain RougeIt only seemed right to bring Cass onto Cass Avenue. She wasn't exactly thrilled when the giant metal dragon started dragoning.

4/13 Weird Detroit TourIf we're honest with ourselves, Detroit (and its tiny inland neighbors) have a lot of downright strange things going on. See it all on our new tour.
