News from The Detroit Bus Company

Detroit's savviest bus riders:It's been a few weeks since our last update. Here's what we've been up to...First off, we’ve given our first official Detroit tour, with the help of esteemed local fount of knowledge, Dan Austin, whose book cover is pictured above. The recipients of Mr. Austin’s knowledge were clients of high-falutin’ Detroit-based marketing firm, Lovio George Communications and Design Inc., which brought in some big-timers from New York who wanted to learn more about the city and show off their fancy designer eyeglasses. Yes, world, we’ve arrived. Don’t worry. though. We still wear plain black t-shirts most of the time.Less glamorously and more in line with our usual lifestyle, "Lochness" (the Suburbanite Express bus) has been in the shop for two weeks, with the mechanic giving us the runaround. We've all been there, right?Well, now we're on target for having Lochness back on the road Friday night. But say a prayer to the wrenchin' gods just in case. It’s also good to know that if your prayers are not answered, we've got backup. Last weekend, we rented a van to get the job done, and we're prepared to do so again because the show must go on!Look for us at the usual Suburbanite Express stops -- Gusoline Alley in Royal Oak, The Imperial in Ferndale, and Whiskey in the Jar in Hamtramck (pickup on Joseph Campau). In the event that Lochness is still down, we'll have decals on the side of our rented vehicle -- this time, a white mini-bus that seats about 14 -- identifying us.On a more positive note, this debacle has inspired us to buy another bus. We’re keeping it under wraps for now, until we retrieve it from the faraway land of Pennsylvania and see what we’ve gotten ourselves into. We’ll be sharing soon.Anyway, friends, now that we’re well out of the launch period and have gotten around some, what do you think? Send us some feedback, either at [email protected] or through our Web outlets, listed below.Meanwhile, here are some DBC route-friendly events coming up this weekend for you to stew on.

HAVE A BLESSED WEEKEND. ... Oh yeah, speaking of blessings, we'd like to reiterate a certain point that seems to have gotten lost in the 100-degree fog of Summer 2012: Yes, you can bring your alcoholic drinks aboard our buses!-- Andy and Garyhttp://www.thedetroitbus.comhttp://twitter.com/detroitbushttp://www.facebook.com/detroitbus
