This is what a killer sound system looks like after UPS delivers it. In a few hours, it will be delivering sound to your ears.

All this is going in the bus today, just for you, our friends

This weekend's essentials for the Detroit Bus Company bar-hopping service

Greetings, Detroit revellers.

Just a reminder that we're on target for another attack on the downtown bar scene. Get your party shoes on and head for the bus because this weekend we have a very special new feature: a brand-spanking new sound system, being installed today, fresh off the docks.

And a quick but important note: The Suburban Express bus is offline this weekend as it gets its heart fixed -- the all-important diesel injectors need cleaning. It's worth it not only because it means the engine will continue working, but also it drastically reduces smelly exhaust fumes, and we're here to help reduce traffic and emissions, not increase them.

A few events for motivation:

  • B Williams Experiment at Motor City Wine (upstairs of Foran's), tonight from 10 till 11:30. Live jazz mixed with wine and a great crowd. A very pleasant way to kick off the weekend.

  • DJ Mike 'Agent X' Clark 10pm at Northern Lights Lounge. Also a very pleasant way to kick off the weekend, but with a bit more bump.

  • The Concert of Colors is taking place at various Midtown venues this weekend, including a wide variety of tasteful musical performances.

  • Third Annual Bastille Day Festivities on the Mound: Saturday at 7PM. You can visit "Ze Mound" on Atwater at the riverfront for a picnic and cake-cutting to celebrate France's National Day. Guests are encouraged to bring goodies. This sounds very cool. You can hoof it from our stop at Foran's, and then hop back on the bus in the afterglow of French nationalism, head to some bars and feel some more joie de vivre. Come on, city dwellers, it's not that far!

Also, we have updated the site to reflect some of our new stops and answer some of the questions we've received about how our service works. Share with your friends, bring more people to the party so we can have the coolest city party bus in the nation! No other city has this. Let's make it killer and represent!  As always, don't forget our awesome tracker that shows you where the bus is during hours of service. Look for the live link to go up just before 6PM Friday and Saturday so you know in which direction to stumble:

.  And there's also the phone number: (313) 444-BUS1 (2871) that gets you a live person on the bus who can help you find out where to get picked up, answer service questions, and generally make your party life way slicker.  Have a great weekend, friends!  -- Andy and Gary
