DBC Partnering To Bring Magnetic Aerial Trams To Detroit!

DBC on Magnets & Miracles in Detroit

Magnetic Aerial Trams!!! DBC Endorses Quicken's Newest Public Transit Initiative

The Detroit Bus Company is proud to be partnering with Quicken Loans to bring floating magnetic gondolas to downtown Detroit!!  ...ok, not really :)  Though we were thrilled to see Deadline Detroit's late contribution to this year's April Fools' Day hijinks.  Their prank fit right in with the strange-but-true vibe of a lot of local headlines in our city.  Both for good and bad, we're at a magical historical moment where big, audacious ideas are getting traction in our city.  Five years ago, who would have thought someone would have been crazy enough to even propose The Commonwealth of Belle Isle? Or, on a smaller scale, that we would be seeing this many new businesses taking root?  Heck, I'm sure even some of the news stories about us have tended to sound like headlines from The Onion.  A few years back, a friend of ours who's a lifelong Detroiter used to joke that, when the International House of Pancakes opened on Jefferson, it was on the front page for a month straight.  Now, despite the city's challenges, we're seeing new projects being proposed at a bracing clip.  There's a real feeling of possibility, a hopefulness that even outrageously big ideas have a change here.  It's a thrilling momentum that we can all take pride in.  As an aside, since we're talking about, ahem, magnets and miracles..   Ok, so we're not getting floating magnetic gondolas over Woodward.  But the art of a good April Fools' joke is that it aligns close enough to reality to be plausible.  And the fact that this goofy article passes muster is something of a small miracle, indeed.  -The Detroit Bus Company Crew
